Pursell, Shaw Named to MBA Hall

Greg Pursell, a longtime Hall of Fame nominee, finally gets the nod for induction in the Distinguished Performance category. He will join Veterans category selection Dave Shaw as the 2010 inductee class.

Pursell, a 30 year member of the MBA has two City tournament titles to his credit. He won All Events in the 1990-91 season with a 2130 total. He captured the Singles title in the 1998-99 season with 725, and finished in second place in Doubles that same year. Pursell lists a number of additional singles championships on his resume, most notably a WSBA State Tournament Singles title in 2000 - earned via an 835 set which included a 299 game. He has one MAST title, a 1996 win in Waunakee, a pair of Central Wisconsin Scratch Tour titles in 1998, and several Badger State Games Medals. He has posted four 700 sets at USBC Nationals

In the honor score department, he has a total of 13 perfect games, had 11-in-a-row on 16 occasions, and five 800 series. His high average of 225 came in the 2005-06 season; his lifetime average is 197.

Off the lanes, Pursell has been on the MBA Board of Directors since 1999. He is currently a USBC Bronze Level coach and works with the youth program at Lake Ripley Lanes in Cambridge, where he resides. He is also the coach of the Cambridge/Deerfield High School District 4 bowling team.

Dave Shaw

Shaw earns induction on his first year as a candidate in the Veterans category. He is a 25 year member of the MBA.

Shaw has shown his mettle in senior tournament competition. Locally he has two titles in the MBA Senior City Tournament, winning back to back Doubles in 2008-09 and 2009-10. He has a number of top five finishes in Midwest PBA Senior Regionals, leading qualifying at one event.

Over his career, Shaw has 13 perfect games, eight 11-in-a-row counts, and five 800 series' with a high of 818. His high individual average was 241 in the 2005-06 season. His lifetime average is 209.

Shaw has also served on the MBA Board of Directors since 2002. He is currently working with the Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau to try and bring the USBC National Tournament and Convention to Madison.
