All-City Teams Added to MBA Recognitions

MBA All-City First Team Top

Eric Pederson

Pederson, the most prolific scorer in the history of the association, added three 11-in-a-row awards, five 300 games, and two 800 series to his resume this season. Pederson bowled full time in two leagues, the All Star Coed Classic at Village Lanes and the Lake City League at Bowl-A-Vard. Pederson was also the high composite average bowler in the MBA this year, posting a 238 average at Village and a 237 average at Bowl-A-Vard. One of his five perfect games was thrown in the Dream Lanes team tournament as well.

Mike Hoffman

Hoffman averaged 234 and 231 in two leagues this season, rolling two 11-in-a-row, two 300 games, and three 800 series along the way. One of his 800 series and one of the 11-in-a-row was in a MAST singles scratch tournament. He was on the record setting first place team in the MBA City Tournament, contributing a 782 series to the 3748 record and had the ninth highest All Events total. He made 8 out of 12 MAST cuts, averaging nearly 221 for the season. His team was in 157th place at Nationals. He placed 54th in the WSBA State Tournament All Events, 128th in Doubles, and 141st in Singles.

Chris Gibbons

Gibbons averaged 231 and 230 in two full time standard leagues and an impressive 200 in the Bullseye Masters Sport Bowling league. He had 11-in-a-row three times, three perfect games, and three 800 series - one in MAST scratch tournament competition. In the MAST, he cut 2 out of 9 tournament and averaged 203. He finished second at the Year End Championship. His nationals this year was impressive; he was in 18th in Doubles, 33rd in All Events, and 41st in Team. He was also on the 40th place team at the WSBA State Tournament.

Bob Richardson

Richardson amassed a slew of honor counts, all but one at his home court of Middleton Sport Bowl. He had two 11-in-a-row counts, six perfect games, and four 800 series. This produced averages of 233, 233, and 232 in leagues. He made 1 out of 6 MAST cuts, averaging 206. At the WSBA State Tournament, he finished 166th in All Events.

Kevin Thompson

Thompson averaged 230 and 225 in two standard leagues and 198 in the Bullseye Masters Sport League. He had one 300 game in an Adult/Youth tournament and an 800 series in league. Thompson won the MBA Masters at Bowling Green on a tough USBC Blue condition. He had the third highest All Events total at the MBA City Tournament and was 6th in Singles. He was on the same USBC Nationals team as Gibbons, who were in 41st place. Thompson made 2 out of 12 MAST cuts, averaging 204. At the WSBA State Tournament, he took 101st place in Doubles.


MBA All-City Second Team Top

Gregg Williams

Williams booked four averages of 235, 232, 228, and 227 in three centers. He had 11-in-a-row twice and five perfect games - two in the MBA city tournament where he had the 10th highest singles series. He made one out of nine cuts in the MAST, averaging 209. At the WSBA State Tournament, he was on the third place team, took sixth in All Events, 11th in Doubles, and 100th in Singles.

Chris Pounders

Pounders authored back to back 300 games at the MAST Year End Championships; two of his four for the season. He also had an 11-in-a-row and a 279 in the Bullseye Masters Sport League, where he averaged 199. He made 8 of 12 MAST cuts, leading the tour in points this season and averaging almost 218. At the WSBA State Tournament, he was on the 40th place team. His standard league averages were 229, 226, 221, and 219 - earned in four centers.

Jim Fosdick

Fosdick rolled two 11-in-a-row counts, three 300 games, and one 800 series. In five leagues, he averaged 232, 233, 233, 233, and 235. One of his 300 games was shot at Middleton Sport Bowl in the City Tournament where he posted the 10th highest All Events total and 2nd highest doubles count, the latter with his son Tim. In the MBA senior tournament, Fosdick was first in Doubles, 2nd in All Events, 4th in Team, and 5th in Singles. He also showed well at the WSBA State Senior Tournament, placing 4th in Doubles, 14th in All Events, and 38th in Singles.

John Hjortland

Hjortland hails from Viking Lanes where he amassed three perfect games, three 800 series', and had 11-in-a-row twice. His league averages were 229 and 228.

Brian Hoffman

Hoffman rolled five 300 games this season, had 11-in-a-row twice, and one 800 series. In the MBA City Tournament, he placed fourth in doubles. He made one of three MAST cuts. At the WSBA State Tournament, he was on the 31st place team, placed 119th in Singles, and 124th in Doubles.

Jim Fosdick

Fosdick rolled two 11-in-a-row counts, three 300 games, and one 800 series. In five leagues, he averaged 232, 233, 233, 233, and 235. One of his 300 games was shot at Middleton Sport Bowl in the City Tournament where he posted the 10th highest All Events total and 2nd highest doubles count, the latter with his son Tim. In the MBA senior tournament, Fosdick was first in Doubles, 2nd in All Events, 4th in Team, and 5th in Singles. He also showed well at the WSBA State Senior Tournament, placing 4th in Doubles, 14th in All Events, and 38th in Singles.

Dave Rasmussen

MBA Hall of Fame member Rasmussen recorded 11 in a row twice this season, both times in the Senior Classic League at Dream Lanes. He also had a 279 game in the Bullseye Masters Sport League where he averaged a respectable 188. His team took second place in the MBA City Tournament on the strength of his 776 contribution. In the Senior MBA City Tournament, Rasmussen's won all events with a 2226 total. Hie team was high scratch, he had second high scratch singles, and fourth high scratch doubles. He averaged 226 in his only standard league, the Senior Classic.

Dave Shaw

2010 MBA Hall of Fame inductee Shaw averaged 232, 222, and 217 over three leagues this season. He had one 800 series and an 11-in-a-row count. In MAST competition, he made one out of three cuts. At the WSBA Senior Tournament, he placed 51st in singles. In the MBA Senior tournament, Shaw had the highest scratch Doubles total, second highest Singles, third highest All Events, and was on the fourth and fifth place teams. He was the runner-up in the inaugural MBA Senior Masters.

John Bisco

Bisco posted averages of 219, 213, 207, and 199 in four leagues at Dream Lanes, but had a career year in the honor score department. He had 11-in-a-row twice, one in the Dream Lanes Team Tournament. He also had three perfect games - again with one coming in the Dream Lanes Team Tournament. In the MBA City Tournament, he was fifth place in scratch Doubles. And, in the MBA Senior City Tournament, he took third in Doubles, sixth in Singles, and 12th in All Events.

Jim Janzer

Janzer quietly put together an excellent season, averaging 223 and 220 in two leagues at Prairie Lanes. He had three 300 games there, an 800 series, and 11-in-a-row. In the WSBA State Tournament, he placed 67th in Singles, 107th in Doubles, and 119th in All Events.


Association Manager All-City Team Top

Recognition of bowlers with accomplishments of note this season, selected by the MBA Association Manager

Marc McDowell

The MBA Hall of Fame member McDowell had 11-in-a-row twice, once in the MBA City Tournament. He averaged 232 in one full time standard league, rolling a 300 game and 800 series in that league. He was the MBA City Tournament All-Events scratch titlist, placing 7th in Singles. McDowell was also runner-up in the MBA Masters. At Nationals he was on the 14th place team, and at the WSBA State Tournament, he was on the seventh place team.

Jeff Richgels

MBA Hall of Fame member Richgels bowled exclusively in the Bullseye Masters Sport League, averaging 206. He had one 300 game and an 11-in-a-row in MAST tournaments. In the MAST, he was the average leader at 227 and made seven out of nine cuts. This season, he also set the high series record in Iowa with a 867 series in a tournament there. In the MBA City Tournament, Richgels had the high scratch Singles series and placed eighth in All Events. Richgels took fifth place in the MBA Masters. He was on the 14th place team at Nationals with McDowell. At the WSBA State Tournament, Richgels was on the seventh place team and placed 63rd in All-Events

Scott Erickson

Erickson averaged 228 in a standard league and led the Bullseye Masters Sport league with a 208. He had two 300 games; one in standard league play and one in the Bullseye Masters Sport Bowling League. In the MBA City Tournament, Erickson placed third in scratch Singles. At the WSBA State Tournament, he was 101st in Doubles and 156th in Singles. He had a tremendous year at USBC Nationals, placing 18th in All Events, 18th in Doubles, 113th in Singles, and 41st in Team.

Rick Thomas

Thomas averaged 232 in one standard league and 204 in the Bullseye Masters Sport league. He posted two perfect games, one in the MBA City Tournament as part of the first place record setting five-person team score of 3,748. His other 300 and one of his two 800 series were accomplished in MAST tournaments. Thomas was second in points in the MAST, cutting nine of 12 tournaments. He was third in average at 221.57, which was the highest for full-time bowlers. He placed fourth in this years' MBA Masters, the only bowler to make the stepladder finals both years. At the WSBA State Tournament, he placed 31st in Team and 124th in Doubles.

Bruce Lappen

Lappen bowled in one league this season, averaging 221. He had 11-in-a-row twice, one 300 game, and an 800 series. At the WSBA Senior State Tournament, he placed fifth in Singles, seventh in All Events, and 28th in Doubles.
