Gregory E. Pursell

Plaque Inscription:

Once he learned the basics of the game from his father Gene, Greg Pursell honed his skills in youth leagues at Casino Lanes.

After becoming a machinist, he was introduced to the craft of fitting and drilling a bowling ball by MBA Hall member Jim Fladen. He later worked at the Middleton Sport Bowl pro shop, and eventually started Pursell’s Pro Shop.

On the lanes, Pursell has excelled at all levels of competition. He has two MBA City Tournament Titles; All Events in 1990 and Singles in 1999. His career high series of 835 came during a WSBA State Singles title effort in 2000. In addition to a number of scratch titles over his career, he includes 13 300 games, five 800 series, and a high single season average of 225 on his resume.

Pursell is passing on his skills to his two boys and is a certified coach working with youth bowlers and the high school team in Cambridge.

Pursell joins his mother, Marge, as a Madison bowling Hall of Fame member. Today he is a proud son, father, bowler, coach, and union activist.
