Hall of Fame Tournament Results

The threat of severe weather and heavy rain dampened the turnout for the 2010 Hall of Fame tournament. 44 bowlers braved the elements to support the MBA and MWBA initiatives to create new youth scholarship opportunities.

There were 15 "Pro" teams on hand, joined by the 44 bowlers. So far, the event has raised $783.00 for youth scholarships.

Savanah Ryder was the star of the day. The 147 average youth bowler outpaced all tournament entrants with scores of 179, 202, and 154. Her 2738 total was 132 pins higher than her nearest competitor and nearly 100 pins higher than the adult division winner, Danny Seppa. Seppa, who averaged 157 this summer in his first adult league, put together games of 147, 208, and 201 and had a 2634 total.

A big thanks to tournament host Don Bussan for the donated use of Bowl-A-Vard Lanes, and to MBA tournament sponsor Tom Schemm who provided a free drink card to all participants. We would also like to thank the many directors who came out to assist, MBA Vice President George Dorn, MWBA President Ginni Zuege, MWBA Directors Lois Will, Sarah Flood, and Terri Zuege, and MBA Director John Anderson.

Thanks also to the late entry "Pro" subs Terri Zuege, Gary Zuege, Jim Nye, John Anderson, and Carey Emerson for helping us round out our teams.

We look forward to working on a number of ideas to make this event bigger and better than ever.

Hall of Fame Tournament

On Friday, August 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes, the Madison USBC Bowling Association and Madison USBC Women’s Bowling Association will conduct the annual Hall of Fame Pro-Am / Celebrity Tournament.

This event was founded and formerly run by MBA Hall of Fame Member Mark Henry. It has been an overwhelming success due to Mark’s capable leadership, and we hope to continue the legacy.

Brian Olson and Gary Cannalte will be back to slug it out for the the "pinbrella" trophy in the annual Weatherman's Challenge. Channel 15's weekend meteorologist Chuck Koch is taking up the challenge as well. The four 2010 MBA and MWBA Hall of Fame inductees will be on hand, as will 2010 Madison Sports Hall of Fame inductee Greg O'Brien. A number of association dignitaries and local proprietors round out the celebrity line-up.

The All-Star line-up includes some of the finest bowlers in the association from last season, and a number of MBA and MWBA Hall of Fame members will be there.
