League Officer Sweeper
The 12th annual League Officer Sweeper will take place at Prairie Lanes on October 12, 2008. This event is an invitational tournament for MBA and MWBA league officers, association directors, past presidents, and association managers.
This is an excellent opportunity for league officers to meet each other and association officials, share ideas, ask questions, and compete for fun and a little prize money. Complimentary snacks will be provided.
After bowling, join us in the newly remodeled Prairie Lanes bar area to enjoy the Packer football game at 3:15.
We hope to see your league officers there.

Ask the Pro Shop
The MBA presents a new feature to the MBA E-News - "Ask the Pro Shop".
The sport of bowling is a lot different in this technological age. It used to be a bowler could wander down to the alleys on league night with a single ball and pretty much expect the same thing every week.
Today, bowling is a much more technology enhanced game. How do you take care of modern equipment? How do you know what ball or drilling is right for you and your game? Why do I keep leaving 10 pins and what can I do about it?
Submit your question to Ask the Pro Shop using the link below. Selected questions will be featured in future MBA E-Newsletters.

Awards Trickling In...
Although numerous supernational honor scores have been reported on The Capital Times' bowling blog - the 11th Frame, not too many award forms have been submitted to the office yet. So far, there is only one official 300 in the system, Jan Switzky's 300 in the Verona Businessmen's league at Wildcat Lanes (*Note - there are a few pending forms in the MBA inbox).
Other notables in the 243 achievements processed so far this season include a 7-10 split conversion by Mark Schultz in the DeForest Suburban league at Rude's Lanes, a Dutch 200 by Lucas Ganser in the Monday Night Special league at Riviera Bowl, and triplicates by William Ford (155) in the Merchants league at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes and Herbert Schultz (147) in the OM Night Workers league at Dream Lanes.
Remember, all bowling achievements need to be submitted to the office within 21 days.
Awards in Jeopardy?
An often overlooked rule is USBC Rule 101 which deals with payment of your annual membership fee. Did you know that it is required to pay the fee before the completion of your first series in any certified league?
A trend seen in the office is for bowlers to delay payment until they bowl in a particular league or at a particular center.
This is not acceptable according to an email received from a USBC Rules Counselor. "If a bowler bowls in a league only to try and have his membership paid for at a later time, then all of his scores prior to having the membership paid for are subject to forfeiture and all scores are null and void and not eligible for awards."
The MBA encourages all certified league bowlers to remit their membership fee on the first night they bowl, as required by rule, to prevent any problems.
