Hall of Fame Class of 2008

The Madison USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame was founded in 1972, with charter members William Blau, John Bossart, Ray Farness, Edgar "Pim" Quinn, and Connie Schwoegler. 2008 marks the 37th consecutive year of the Hall of Fame which has 108 members. Candidates for the Hall may be elected in one of three categories; Meritorious Service, Veterans, or Distinguished Performance.

High School District Four Bowlers Compete for Junior Gold

Three area junior bowlers have made the trek to Michigan to compete in the USBC Junior Gold Championships in suburban Detroit.

The sold out field is comprised of Youth members who average 175 or better (males) or 165 or better (females) and who are members of the USBC Junior Gold program. The competitors in this individual competition are battling for spots on Junior Team USA as well as $100,000 in scholarship money.

The athletes are taking part in three six-game qualifying blocks on July 7, 8, and 9 before the field is cut to the top 105 males and 57 females for two six-game semifinal blocks on July 10. The top 16 males and 16 females will then take part in match play on July 11.

Sun Prairie High School bowler Nick Powers is currently in 25th place out of 1,020 in the boys division. In the first six games of qualifying on July 7, Nick rolled games of 221, 213, 229, 172, 244, and 235 for a 1314 total on the very demanding Sport Bowling conditions featured at the event.

Verona's Cody Ramsden is also bowling well, posting an 1130 total for his first six games, with a high mark of 238.

On the girl's side, Brooke Raimond of Madison has posted a solid 1009 set after day one which puts her in the middle of the pack.

Good luck to our three representatives. You can follow the tournament standings on the Junior Gold homepage.
